My Students
My students always come to music eager to learn and experience music in new ways. They try to live out the motto of making the best version of themselves each class by the wonderful character traits music can teach a child.
The students at my school come from very diverse backgrounds from very low socio-economic to the affluent, different ethnic backgrounds, family lifestyles and learning abilities.
Despite their many differences they always work together to make wonderful music. They understand that to make this happen they must work together.
My Project
My students love creating music with one another! Since early times people have made a connection with one another by playing music together. A very social way of making music was done through drumming circles. My students would love the opportunity to explore music through various activities in authentic ways through drumming. With having larger size classes and only have a few small drums, we can't accommodate even one third of a class of students. Having enough drums for even just half of the class to play at once will enhance the engagement in the classroom. Students will also be able to further develop collaboration skills in many ways with partner and small group drumming.
