This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My co-teachers and I teach a 3rd grade ICT/ENL class in a Title I-funded public school in New York City. My students predominantly come from Hispanic backgrounds, where Spanish is the dominant language spoken at home. My students are always excited to learn new things. They face challenges in learning the English language. However, they are willing to learn and do their best daily. As an ELL teacher, I have worked with my students for multiple years, and I always love to see the growth in their academics from year to year.
We are in a digital age, and students need to become more tech-savvy as they approach the older grades.
My students use their Chromebooks daily to do online lessons for iReady, where they receive supplemental lessons in Reading and Math catered to their learning needs. These lessons require students to listen. To help focus on those lessons, they need headphones. They also use their Chromebooks to listen to texts required for lessons in content areas. The headphones they've been using have started to fall apart. We need new headphones. The requested headphones are very durable and comfortable for my students to use.
