This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to school eager to learn everyday! 100% of the students at my school receive a free breakfast and lunch daily. Many of them receive food backpacks on Fridays to provide snacks during the weekend. The majority of my kids speak English as their second language. Our school is considered a high poverty school due to their family's low income levels.
My students have a lot of obstacles to overcome, but they are determined to succeed!
I wouldn't trade my students or my school for anything else.
My Project
I am requesting three activities that will help my students add, subtract and multiple double digit numbers with ease.
My students learn best when they have access to hands on learning materials.
Mathematical concepts can be so abstract. My job is to make difficult learning tasks easy to understand. These activities are perfect for understanding how regrouping works while manipulating double digit numbers.
Many of my students have math goals that require knowledge of how to regroup. They have developed solid foundations in place value. They can explain how many ones, tens and hundreds are in a number.
Using their place value knowledge and these great kits will allow them to exceed their math goals and have a true understanding of how number operations work.
Math should be presented in exciting ways that help the learner grasp the key concepts, rather than memorization of rules and steps. These activities will engage learners to solve problems while learning the rules and steps through fun, active learning.
My students work hard and are eager to tackle any challenges. Thanks for reading about how you can support their learning!
