Camp Out With a Good Book!

Help me give my students a wonderful new camping reading corner to bring the joy of reading to my classroom.

My Project

I am a special education teacher who is hoping to create a fun reading corner for my new classroom. In my classroom I have students ranging from K-5th grade. Most of my students have special needs like autism spectrum disorder, serious emotional disabilities or behavioral disabilities. My students love to get cozy and read books, therefore I want a special place for them to read.

Some of the students in my class have a negative relationship with school.

My goal with this DonorsChoose project is to change this relationship by giving them some positives. I want to create an environment that is welcoming, relaxing and engaging. By creating this space, I am hopeful my students will begin to feel school is a place they can feel at home and loved by their teacher. I want each and every student that walks into my classroom to feel like the special person they are!
