Camera, Easel, and Wobble Stools Rock Kids to Success.
My students need a document camera, easel, chart paper, pencil sharpener, and wobble stools to make them successful in the 21st century learning environment.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have sixty 5th graders who attend school in an inner city area of a large school district. They are motivated kids who want to do well and reach success, but often do not have all of the resources to accomplish their goals.
These students are also very active.
They thrive off of lessons that are engaging, get them out of their seats, and involve technology. Limited resources can make it difficult to provide these students with the tools they need to remain focused and be successful.
My Project
The document camera will be used daily in my classroom as it is an extremely versatile piece of technology. This camera allows me to explicitly model skills and strategies to students. I can place any document or book under the camera and it will project onto the board, where students can then watch me write notes, read along with me, create graphic organizers, etc. It is also great for investigating objects. For example, magnifying a rock under the camera can help students to deepen their understanding of rocks and minerals.
The easel will be used every day.
will keep this near my small group table most of the time and it will be utilized for notes during small group discussions, for modeling of reading and writing skills during small group instruction, and to make anchor charts that will then be transferred to the wall for reference during both whole group and small group instruction.
The wobble stools are a wonderful way to help active students stay engaged during a lesson. These stools allow them to rock at their seat while completing work. This helps them to release energy while working, which is not as easy in a traditional desk chair. They are also a comfy place for independent reading.
Finally, the pencil sharpener will allow my students to stay prepared for all of their work each and every day.
