My students need a writing center resource book and blank books to publish their writing. My students need a digital camera and color printer to enhance their published writing.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students begin the school year learning to write the letters of the alphabet. My dream is for them to end the school year writing short paragraphs about topics that interest them.
My students are eager to learn.
They are immersed in an urban setting, surrounded by many different writing opportunities. One of the challenges I face is getting the students to realize that writing is not a task restricted to the classroom, but a lifelong tool that can be applied to anything in their lives.
My Project
My students need a writing center resource book and 30 blank books to publish their writing. My students need a digital camera and color printer to enhance their published writing. I will use the teacher writing center to teach the students how to write sentences and short paragraphs. Then the students will use the classroom camera to capture images of topics that interest them from their own surroundings and print their images using the color printer. They will write their sentences and when they are ready, publish their paragraphs and photographs in their own personal mini books.
By having a camera and color printer in the classroom I hope the students will get excited about finding topics they want to write about.
I hope that I can teach them that they can write about anything they want.
