This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting a few materials so that I may have a calming center in my classroom. I teach high school students with mild disabilities who need a safe and quiet space where they can reflect and regulate their emotions during the challenging moments of the school day. The iPad will be used for guided meditations, wellness apps, journaling prompts, and educational videos that teach emotional regulation techniques. I’m also requesting calming strips as another sensory tool to help the students with focus and anxiety relief. Your contribution will directly support students who are dealing with anxiety, stress or overwhelming emotions, giving them tools to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
