it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students would really appreciate noise-reducing headphones since music class can get pretty loud, especially during our recorder unit. I have one set of headphones right now, and that has tremendously helped with students who get easily overstimulated. However, since there are often multiple students on IEPs or 504 plans per class who are sensitive to noise, it would really help me if I could provide them with more noise-reducing headphones.
When I have students who start acting out because they are overstimulated, I ask them to sit in the "rest area," where they can simply sit and/ or put on noise-reducing headphones and do some breathing exercises until they are ready to join the class again.
It usually takes them about 5 minutes to reset and rejoin class.
I find that students do best when they combine the headphones with some breathing exercises. The breathing posters would be ideal for tracing shapes with their fingers while breathing.
