This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting weighted stuffed animals, a large fuzzy rug and a tent for our Calming Room. My students are very bright and incredibly resilient. Many of these kiddos have overcome incredible hardships and even more continue to live in complex situations outside of school.

As the school social worker, my mission is to ensure that all students - regardless of their backgrounds - feel safe, loved, and accepted at school.

We have a Calming Room that is dedicated to supporting the social and emotional and sensory needs of students who are emotionally and/or physically dysregulated and unable to manage their emotions in a prosocial way. By providing a space that supports their need for safety and security, we can meet emotional challenges with the support that best supports the whole child.
