My Students

My students are exceptional! They come to class excited to learn and become an integral part of our class. They come from so many diverse backgrounds, but, when we are together, we are a classroom family.

I teach at a Title I school where 80% of our students receive free lunch.

Our school has a large number of students that receive free or reduced rate lunch and many who are English language learners. Our class is a full inclusion class with students have various ability levels. We are very active and engaged learners. We care deeply about our education. We aim for the stars and travel beyond the galaxy!

My Project

Fluorescent lights are so harsh on our eyes. They cause headaches and can overstimulate a child with special needs. My students require frequent sensory breaks during instruction to decompress. Sensory breaks allow the students an opportunity to clear their head and walk away from an overstimulating environment (even though it may seem quiet to most). Classroom light filters will help dim the harsh florescent lights and provide a more soothing environment for the class.

The light filters requested will provide my students with a calming environment of soft light that will allow them to relax and learn.

My students are smart, and I believe with the right accommodations, they can go far and surpass everyone's expectations.
