My Project
Calming corners are used in classrooms to help students self regulate. These calming corners are designed to be a safe place for students to go to take a break and collect their thoughts and emotions. Audubon is a Social Emotional School in which teachers are trained in Restorative Practices, Trauma and Social Emotional Curriculum.
Help Audubon's elementary classrooms design calming corners for their students.
Each elementary classroom, kindergarten through second grade, will receive a bean bag and fidgets. The bean bag will provide a designated safe comfortable place for students to go take a break. The fidgets will allow students to relieve their anxiety and boost self control. These objects allow and outlet for movement and calm nerves in an overstimulating environment. By having a safe place to go calm down students can be more centered and ready to learn.
