My Project
I work at a K-8 school located on the Upper East Side. My second graders are the most amazing, passionate, curious thinkers, builders, and explorers. They are learning and growing every day. They enjoy coming to school, love all subjects, and have a desire to learn. They motivate me and enrich my passion for teaching. To close the achievement gap, I would like to provide my students with the resources to enhance learning opportunities.
In our classroom, we need a place for students to "call home." Second graders will be able to have the option of using the cozy corner with your help.
A cozy corner with a comfy rug and pillows in our class will give students a place to read, relax, and calm down. Students will be able to choose to go to the cozy corner during reading, writing, or during tough times when they need to calm down. In our SEL unit, we learn about regulating our emotions, specifically what to do when we feel angry. The cozy corner will be an option that students will have and I know they will love it.
