This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I’m trying to create a safe space for my students to go to when they’re upset. That is why I’m creating the “Calming Corner”. Creating the “Calming Corner” will give my students a place to relax, think, and try to understand their social and emotional feelings.
In the “Calming Corner,” there will be mirrors so that the children can see their own emotions and match them to how their feeling.
There will be books (Lakeshore Moods and Emotional Book Set) that the children can look through to help them better understand the way they feel. Also, there will be toys (Tilt and Turn Liquid Sensory Windows) to use for calming them down when upset. It would be greatly appreciated and beneficial to get these items for my students.
