Calming Corner

Help me give my students sensory materials such as a bean bag chair and canopy to create a calming corner.

My Project

My PreK students spend their school days with hands-on activities, lots of exploration, and plenty of time to play! Half of the students in our class have an identified disability, and they receive various interventions and supports throughout their school day. Singing, free play, art projects, and read-aloud stories are some favorite parts of the PreK experience. All of my students are thoughtful, engaged, and excited to come to school.

Sometimes children need a safe and quiet place to calm down, process their emotions, and learn to self-regulate.

The materials I have selected, including the bean bag chairs and canopy, will give my students a Calm Corner in our classroom. The sensory balls, emotions bottles, and liquid floor tiles will provide various sensory, gross motor, and fine motor experiences for my students as they manage and learn about their emotions in a safe, private, and quiet space.
