it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A calming corner will help make my students feel like they have a place to release anxiety in a healthy manner and encourage them to have a productive day at school. With a calming corner, they will be able to take a break on a beanbag chair, or gaze into a bubble lamp, if they have any issues during our class period. Sometimes, children just need a moment to catch their breath and reassess. All of the sensory tools I've chosen, and positive behavior materials will allow them the autonomy to choose a great day. The tent will also allow them some shut down time. Many of the things I've chosen such as headphones, are helpful for those who need a bit of extra help, whether dealing with anxiety, ADHD, depression or just need a deep breath before continuing learning.
