Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come into my classroom for individual or group counseling and to regulate their emotions when they are having a difficult time on the playground or other emotional meltdowns. Many have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences and generational trauma.

Access to a calming corner in the same room where they are counseled is an ideal safe space to learn to build resilience.

To help them go back to learning, a soft seat with inspirational quotes and posters reassure them that their feelings are ok and that self-care, reflecting, and fidgeting with colored tactile items will aid in managing their emotions and behaviors.
