This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a wonderful group of six and seven years olds, and sometimes they get overstimulated. A calming corner will help them learn how to self-regulate their feelings and emotions, give them time and space to calm down, and refocus their minds. With my group of diverse learners, some may respond better to a weighted lap pad or cuddle toy, while others may need something to play with like sand, water beads, or peel foam. All of these tools will help my students get back to their learning.
