My Project

I'm writing to request your support for a special addition to our 2nd grade classroom at CWES in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. My students and I are hoping to create a dedicated "Calming Corner" in our classroom, and we need your help to make it happen.

Our classroom is a busy hub of learning and growth, but sometimes my 7 and 8-year-old students need a quiet space to reset, regulate their emotions, or simply take a moment to breathe.

A soft, inviting area rug would transform an unused corner of our classroom into a comforting space where students can practice mindfulness and emotional self-regulation.

In our vibrant Bedford-Stuyvesant community, many of our students face challenges outside of school that can affect their ability to focus in class. A dedicated calming space would provide them with essential tools for managing big feelings and returning to learning ready to engage.

The area rug we're requesting would create a defined, cozy space for students to decompress. It would also add warmth to our classroom environment and provide comfortable seating for small reading groups and one-on-one activities.

This rug will last for many years, supporting multiple classes of students.
