Help me give my students an armchair, tent, and rug to create a soothing calm corner where they can learn to regulate their emotions and find relaxing ways to express themselves.
The students in my class are fun, bright, and energetic. They love to learn and have so many questions about the world. The pandemic has really changed school in so many ways. Kids had years of not getting to experience being part of a classroom in the way we all picture. Social emotional learning and self regulation have been a struggle since returning to the classroom.
I want to create a classroom setting that will enable students to regulate and fully engage in their learning.
A calm and serene space with many tools available for kids to use will lead to more success in all areas of schooling. The ultimate goal is for students to learn how to regulate themselves and get back on track to learn. I want my classroom to have the tools needed to provide an atmosphere of excitement and engagement.
These new comfy chairs will find its home in our calm corner where our students are able to take a moment, reflect on what's troubling them, and come back to learn with a new and improved mindset.
