Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All students learn better when they are regulated. However, many students who have autism struggle to regulate themselves, especially in a classroom with a lot of noise stimulation. As a teacher, I have learned that my students need tools to help with this. Having a calming corner will give them space to address their sensory needs!
The items i have chosen were carefully selected to be beneficial towards this.
It includes sensory items that let them explore with their hands which is calming. They will be getting tactile sensory input as well with the fluid mats and the wall tiles. Studies show that when sensory processing needs are met, students can process academic learning far better. I can’t wait to see how much this helps my students grow this year!
