Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love seeing my students walk into our classroom each day full of energy, curiosity, and big dreams. I want to provide them with the tools they need to succeed—not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well.
My students are learning to understand their feelings, manage big emotions, and build healthy connections with others—skills that aren’t always part of a traditional school day, but are so deeply needed.
By creating Busy Boxes filled with fidget kits, play dough, and books, I can encourage students to play quietly, independently, and with focus. These tools help reduce disruptive behavior during transitions or idle moments and support students who need sensory input.
In addition, a Calming Corner will provide a safe and peaceful space for students to regulate emotions when they feel overwhelmed, anxious, or upset. This space will help them learn how to self-regulate, reflect, and regroup in a healthy and supported way.
With your support, I can continue to foster social-emotional learning, self-regulation, sensory awareness, and meaningful peer relationships. Together, we can help every student feel safe, seen, and empowered to grow—not just in school, but in life.
