Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students need weighted stuffed animals, glitter wands, essential oils for our diffuser, calm strips, inspirational coloring books, and fidget toys to establish a soothing and supportive classroom environment. A comfortable and calming space is essential for student success, allowing them to focus on their learning without the distractions of anxiety or stress.

Children often carry worries with them to school—whether it's challenges at home, fears from what they hear in the news, or personal struggles.

These items will serve as tools to help my students regulate their emotions, feel safe, and remain engaged in their learning.

Weighted stuffed animals provide deep pressure input, which can help students feel grounded and secure enabling them to better participate in classroom activities. Glitter wands act as visual calming aids, offering a moment of mindfulness. Essential oils create a soothing atmosphere through calming which can reduce tension and enhance concentration. Calm strips give students a discreet way to self-soothe by providing tactile stimulation, helping them manage anxiety without drawing attention. Inspirational coloring books encourage creative expression and mindfulness while building a sense of accomplishment. Lastly, fidget toys help students channel excess energy or nervousness in a productive way, allowing them to stay attentive during lessons.
