Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from a low-income neighborhood where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of the students come into kindergarten unable to recognize letters or read and often do not have the resources to be able to read at home in order to better their reading abilities.
Even though my students have many factors working against them, they are enthusiastic learners that deserve to be provided with resources to help them succeed!
We are committed as a community to work together to provide the best learning environment for our students. Through high expectations and a strong family connection, we help our students achieve academic and emotional success. My students are hard workers and truly want to be in school.
My Project
My classroom was originally built in the 1950s-1960s. One perk of that is that it is nice and big. A down side is that the lighting is horrible bright and gives off a glare on electronics and posters. I do not have the ability to turn off certain rows. It's either all on or all off.
The next best solution to this blinding florescent light problem is light filters to soften the light.
I want to provide an environment for my students were they do not have to move where they are sitting to avoid the glare from our current light fixtures.
