Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are enthusiastic and energetic learners. They are amazing learners and love to share their life stories.
A calming area will give my students a quiet space to reflect, practice mindfulness and self regulation.
Read-alouds and weighted stuffed animals will comfort my students and help them process their feelings and emotions.
The headphones will cancel out distractions and noises that may impact their learning. These calming area materials will be a useful strategy to teach my students self-management. By including these materials in my classroom, it will help students process an experience or de-escalate when they are having a difficult time.
