Help me give my students an artificial fish tank, lighting, and sensory toys needed to create a calming area in the classroom to help them relax and regulate their emotions.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'd like to create a calming area for my students in our classroom. Young children often have trouble regulating their emotions and I'd like to support their emotional development and social-emotional learning by establishing a calming area in our classroom. By establishing a calming area in the classroom my students will have the resources needed to help them soothe themselves and regulate their emotions with the resources requested (fidget and sensory toys, plushies). The sand timer will be used to help them keep track of the amount of time they have available to regroup their feelings and regulate their emotions. The moon lamp and aquarium will offer a soothing and sensory-regulatory mood for the calming area. With your support my students will have a great calming area to support their social-emotional development and their education!
