This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My preschool students with disabilities are full of energy and eager to learn. Most of them are learning about rules and routines, taking turns, and sharing materials. Unfortunately, most of my students lack the language to express their emotions. The materials that I am requesting for our calming area will help them learn about challenging emotions they encounter within the classroom. Choices of sensory toys, books, and calming activities

It is important for them to learn how to self-regulate by having a safe area to calm down by engaging in mindful activities.

Once they de-escalate, they are ready to join their peers in classroom activities.
