Help me give my students a calming area with a soft shaggy rug, comfortable bean bag seats, a relaxing canopy and sensory tools to help them regulate their emotions by implementing positive coping strategies.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Coping skills are the supports and strategies that help children and young adults manage tough emotions and deal with stress. This calming area will teach students positive coping skills to help regulate their emotions.
All students deserve a calming and safe space to help regulate their emotions.
This calming area will allow students to identify their emotions and learn and apply positive coping skills, such as, deep breathing, drawing/coloring, exercising, using sensory toys/fidgets, and talking to a trusted adult in a safe space. These skills will help all students build a positive school and classroom community.
