This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All of my students have behavioral needs and challenges. In order to be able to access the curriculum, we must first learn to identify our emotions and regulate our body. I want to be able to provide my students with a safe and comforting environment to practice their calming strategies.
These materials will provide my students with an inviting calming area and engaging tools.
Understanding emotions can be an abstract and difficult topic, but having the models and mirrors to provide explicit instruction will be key. This couch will make the area look inviting to help students realize that it's okay, to not be okay and my teacher will help me calm down.
