This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My project is to provide a calming area for my students in the classroom for when they feel overwhelmed and need to take a break. My students need a bookcase to store all their social emotional materials that they can use to calm themselves when needed.

They need a classroom calming kit, a timer to monitor themselves, and sensory beanbags and shapes to support them when they need to take time out to calm down.

I can use the kit and read to them the story, "Fill a Bucket", to help them with their social emotional needs. They will be able use the Feelings and Emotions mats to help them share how they are feeling. Also, they can use the Calm Down Cubes for strategies to help them calm down.
