it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 5th graders are in need of a calming space in our classroom where they can learn coping strategies to help regulate their emotions. Reality is many students are facing many difficulties with self control. Students have anxiety around testing and the pressures of consistently improve academic scores can be overwhelming.
Learning to regulate their emotions using tools like fidgets, stress balls, sensory viewers, will help my students feel grounded.
The rug and bean bags will be a place of comfort and a place where they can change their mindset and refocus.
These tools and space will help my students' social emotional needs. Learning to cope with overwhelming emotions are valuable strategies that they can use as they navigate through middle school, high school and as adults.
