Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In middle school, so many different pressures can affect students well being. Between challenging classes, puberty, and peer pressure, there are times when a student needs to retreat and find a safe space to take a deep breath. With calming areas, students are able to remove themselves from the larger group, read on the tablet, listen to Lofi music through headphones, or classical music through the speakers. A student may need to work with kinetic sand or color with their hands.
Students need calming areas to help them self-regulate, keep calm, and carry on.
Funding the Calming Area project will give the students of SFIAM the tool necessary to relax, and recover before moving on to tackling their next challenge.
