This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our youngest learners here at Gates EEC arrive everyday with their unique personalities and full of so many different emotions. Preschool is the place and time where they can explore their emotions, and learn ways to calm down when they are experiencing feeling sad, mad, anxious, worried, and even super excited! The materials I am asking for will provide our classroom with a designated space equipped with materials for our students that will aid them in regulating their emotions. These materials are soft, soothing, and students will learn how to utilize them hands on to help them relax, and get ready to have a great day at school. When students feel calm, they can focus, engage in positive interactions with teachers and peers, and are ready to learn. Social Emotional understanding is a foundation for all our preschoolers and having access to this calming area is key to their everyday learning.
