it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a special education preschool teacher. I teach 10 students ages 3 through 5 years old with different learning needs. At this age, students learn new things every day and experience new emotions every day.
Sometimes they can experience challenging emotions that they cannot express safely.
As a teacher, I want to explicitly teach them how to self-regulate their emotions and help them understand that it is okay to express their emotions in a safe and calming way. This calming area will provide great opportunities for me to check in with students, create expectations and space within the classroom for students to self-regulate and rejoin the group, build community within the classroom to respect and honor one another's emotions and feelings, and give me an opportunity to connect to students.
