My Project
I am part of a special program with twice exceptional students who are part of special education in two ways--both gifted as well as qualifying for support in the form of IEPs, etc.
These classroom resources would be wonderful tools in helping our students learn self-regulation of emotions.
Students often express that classrooms with flexible seating, calming atmospheres (decorations, lighting) provide them a safe space, and I'd like to create that atmosphere for them. Some items that may help them feel more comfortable and safe include items, like comfortable seating, a corner where they can take a break (beanbag chairs, rug), green life (even fake is ok) that helps them feel more in tune with nature, manipulatives (e.g. blocks and fidgets) that help them self-soothe, and many more.
