This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This calming corner will be used when students need a break because they are overstimulated. After the pandemic, my students are struggling to identify their emotions and select strategies to help them calm down. This space will provide my students with a safe place in the classroom to identify their feelings and select an activity to help them de-escalate instead of eloping from the classroom. A quiet corner with bean bags, sensory toys, and timers will help my students feel safe and comfortable. In this area, students can manage emotions and reactions independently.
