This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a reading specialist at an inner city school. My job is to provide foundational literacy skills to our most struggling readers in k-3. My classroom environment needs to be welcoming and provide safe spaces to ensure a positive learning environment.
At times, learning to read comes with frustrations and disappointment, and students need a safe space to regroup and feel safe.
Many of my students are aware that they cannot read, and at times feel discouraged.
Having that safe space for my students will create a warm, calming environment in my classroom. This safe space will help my struggling readers feel at ease and focus on their learning.
