This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love about my students is that they are such curious learners. In my classroom, students learn important life lessons such as how to socialize, share, and take turns. My students are encouraged to follow their own interests. We believe in having the materials available to the children, every day, all day, making them able to experience hands-on activities.
A calming area will make such a big difference for students that go through big emotions.
Calm-down areas allow kids to be aware of their own emotions. Kids learn how to identify their emotions so they can better regulate them. Calm-down areas provide a safe space for kids to process these emotions in a vulnerable state. We need materials such as weighted lap pads which will help Improve focus and concentration and add comfort. The weighted puppy is a relaxing sensory experience to calm nerves and ease anxiety. Other items include wobbly cushions which help let students wiggle and wobble while they sit. The toy storage bins and baskets will be a great help to keep our calming area materials organized and clean for everyday use. I appreciate your consideration in donating to my project.
