I teach 4th grade in a public school that has a diverse population. Most of the students in our school come from low income families. My twenty-two 4th grade students work hard, are excited to learn new things, and all learn in a variety of ways.
As well as whole group and independent learning, my students often work together cooperatively in groups.
I want my classroom to be an inviting environment and a place where my students feel comfortable to learn.
My Project
The books will be used to enhance our classroom library. Reading and comprehending informational text is very important, and my students enjoy The Who Was Series. My students also really enjoy the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series. I want my students to have books they enjoy reading in our classroom library.
The bright fluorescent lights in our classroom are not the best for children and their learning.
They can cause eye strain and problems with focusing. The blue light filters help reduce eye strain, help students focus, and provide a calmer classroom environment. I want my students to have a classroom environment where they are comfortable, can focus more easily, and where they can succeed.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
