Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Calm Strips are innovative tools that can significantly enhance classroom environments by promoting focus and emotional regulation among students. These tactile strips, which can be attached to desks or tables, provide a discreet way for students to manage stress and anxiety through sensory engagement. When students feel overwhelmed or distracted, they can use the Calm Strips to refocus their energy, helping them return to their tasks with improved concentration. This tactile experience can be particularly beneficial for students who struggle with attention challenges or sensory processing issues, allowing them to create a personal calming strategy that supports their learning.

Moreover, Calm Strips fosters a culture of self-awareness and emotional intelligence in the classroom.

By encouraging students to recognize their feelings and seek out strategies for self-soothing, teachers can create a more supportive and understanding environment. This practice not only benefits individual students but also contributes to a positive classroom atmosphere where everyone feels empowered to express their needs. As students learn to navigate their emotions effectively, they become more resilient and better equipped to engage with their peers and their learning, ultimately leading to improved academic outcomes and social dynamics.
