This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Each day, my students face challenges before they enter the school building, ranging from extreme poverty, single-parent households where the parent works multiple jobs, students with incarcerated parents, and many students who live in shelters.
Several of my students experience stress and anxiety during the day.
Having a silent fidget tool can help calm them.
My Project
I am a Social Worker in a South Bronx middle school seeking funding for Calm Strips, a silent fidget tool for my students.
Fidget tools are very helpful to relieve stress and anxiety for students, but the problem is that they move or make noise which disturbs teachers and disrupts the class.
I have recently discovered Calm Strips that are the newest fidget tool and best of all they are silent and don't move. These Calm Strips will help students manage their stress and anxiety and they won't disrupt lessons while using them.
