Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Restorative Practice teacher, providing a positive school environment and support for our students and staff is my top priority. At MHS we are incorporating our new Positive Behavioral Incentive Support and Restorative Practices policy. We are excited to include a calm area to help de-escalate students in a safe space. Having a space designed to defuse tension and be able to participate in conflict resolution safety is our top priority.
Having a calm area would allow our students a safe space to de-escalate.
Providing these highly needed supplies would benefit our students greatly, as our school budget is limited. Having a space other than the dean's office or being sent to the counseling office will show students that they are important and they have a voice.
