Help me give my students a calming area and safe space where they can learn to manage their emotions and learn to self-regulate to create a healthy learning environment and a successful academic school year.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Using this carpet, support kit, and other materials will help me provide my students with the best support and teach them tools that will hopefully make life-lasting changes. I work with students from k-5th grade providing individual or group counseling to help teach self-regulating skills. Often students come to my room for support due to different mental health-related problems or simply because they are having a hard morning. Providing them with a calm space helps provide an area of low stimulus and helps build a safe environment where students feel more empowered, motivated, and ready to learn.
