This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Everyone, including adults, can be overwhelmed by their environment, young children often do not know how to deal with those feelings. As a new teacher I want to make sure my students have the ability to develop some calming skills and I hope that by giving them the right tools and space I can set them on the right track. Creating a space with more comfortable seating and fidget toys will give my students the ability to escape to a place in the class where they can have time to decompress and breathe.
My goal for this project is to make my students more self-aware and able to manage their feelings.
I am hoping that they will be able to begin to cope better and to ask for a breather when necessary. The flexible seating will be a change that might provide more comfort. The fidget and sensory toys will help make my students feel grounded and calm.
