it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 4th grade dual language students would benefit from a calm corner area that can allow them to calm their minds by managing their feelings and emotions when needed. Items such as the sensory toys, breathing exercises and techniques posters, and bilingual mindfulness books will provide them with a variety of guidance to recenter themselves and return to their learning fully focused.
My goal for this project is to enhance a safe and calm classroom environment.
Throughout the school year, students will have the ability to utilize this calm corner as they need and independently apply their social emotional skills; skills that will be useful to them in their day-to-day outside of our classroom as well. By creating a calm corner, we will focus on the importance of mindfulness and problem-solving. My students' sense of self-awareness and empathy make my students special and deserving of a safe space in our classroom.
