Calm Minds, Active Bodies: Classroom Movement for Focus

My Project

As a special education teacher for middle school students with autism, I work with a unique group of learners in grades 6 through 8 who face a wide range of behavioral and sensory challenges. These students are bright, capable, and full of potential, but they often struggle to remain focused and regulated throughout the day due to limited outlets for their physical energy and sensory needs.

I am requesting indoor exercise equipment such as a rowing machine, a treadmill, and an exercise bike that will allow students to take active breaks without leaving the classroom.

Rather than relying on the behavior team or using instructional staff for out-of-classroom walks, this equipment will offer a safe, supervised, and productive way for students to regulate their emotions, release energy, and refocus for learning, all within our classroom space.

Your generous support will help create a more inclusive, supportive, and effective learning environment. The exercise equipment will not only reduce behavioral incidents but also teach students lifelong self-regulation and wellness strategies.
