My Project
The COVID-19 pandemic has had an adverse impact on our students' mental health. Many students are having difficulty managing and regulating their emotions. Creating a calm down corner with a bean bag seat and lap desk will provide students with a safe space at school to regulate their emotions. They can explore the materials in the calm down corner such as the photo cards and books to help them recognize and express their feelings. They can also use sensory items to help them calm down. When students are able to manage their emotions, they are better able to focus and engage in learning activities, leading to improved academic performance.
This classroom project was brought to life by Gov. Jared Polis & the Colorado Dept. of Education.
