My Project
Being a student today is extremely stressful. The struggles of being a student are often overlooked. I consider my classroom a home away from home. I would love to create an area where students can have a small getaway from unwanted stress and negative emotions. The Sand Timer will give students a visible way to manage the amount of time they can spend in the calm-down corner. The Social Emotional Mirrors will give students the chance to look at themselves in action and correct their behavior and or see how beautiful they are. The Feelings Flipbook and other books are resources to reach small children to teach them about feelings and controlling emotions. The handheld items are manipulatives used to help manage stress for children. These items often help students squeeze or pull instead of making negative or dangerous choices in the classroom. The A Little SPOT of Emotion books would be used to help students focus more in class and learn ways to cope with stress and negative emotions. We all have stress, so why not teach ways to cope with it?
