Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, I am would like to focus more on supporting my students in regulating their emotions in the classroom. My students love to learn, to interact with their peers and teachers and to do their best.

Sometimes their feelings and emotions about present or even past events get in the way, and stop students from participating to their full potential in activities.

A calm corner in the classroom will help them recognize when they need to take a break, and will provide them with tools such as sensory toys, light and a comfy seat that are inexpensive and could be replicated at home as well to help support students' mental health.

The comfortable and clean rug as well as the different seating options will provide my students with different choices while they decide on which sensory activity to engage in to regulate their nervous system. The lights will enhance the calm space and the overall classroom environment.
