it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A calm corner is important to any classroom. The calm corner will be a designated space where my students can feel safe, express all the emotions they feel, and return to learning with a calm mind and heart.
Middle school students often experience heightened emotions
and a calm corner will help re-center their thoughts. A calm corner will offer a quiet space to take a break, calm down, and regain emotional control. Also, students may face stress from schoolwork, peer interactions, and personal challenges. A calm corner with sensory tools, stress-relief objects, or mindfulness activities with a snack break allows them to de-stress in a non-disruptive way. I would like to fill my calm corner with materials and strategies to help each child find their calm.
