Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The calm corner in our classroom provides a safe space for students to process their emotions. Adding a library of high interest, independent reading level books will support my students’ social and emotional growth while fostering their love of reading. Building literacy skills is of utmost importance for children of this age. Every book they read increases their vocabulary, builds comprehension and helps their development of critical thinking skills. Opportunities for students to choose their book ensures they enjoy their independent reading time.

Our new classroom library will allow my students to choose from a variety of independent reading level books that are high interest and promote their social and emotional growth.

All of the books chosen are age appropriate to provide life lessons, an exploration of the world around them, as well as foster their imagination and build their goals and dreams for the future. Our calm corner library will provide countless literacy experiences for my students.
